what to wear: BASICS
Put ur money where ur closet lies, babe. trust.
Basics may seem boring, but they are an integral part of any and every closet. It’s important to bite the bullet and just spend some cash on the items you’ll have for years, rather than buying that new white tee or tank once every six months. In the end, it’s better for your wallet and your closet. (And, if you’re shopping sustainably, too, it’s better for the environment ;) What could be better than that?
*It should be noted that expensiveness is subjective. For some, spending upwards of $50 on one item could seem extreme. I have done my best to list options that won’t make your bank account laugh at you, like it does at me. Lolz.
i found all of the most sustainable, stylish, and non budget-breaking basics for you, so you don’t have to. Ur welcome.
The white tee
Desired by many, perfected by few.
If you know me (or hopefully, if you’ve read any of my other posts) you know I am in love with Reformation. If you could marry a clothing brand, she’d be my betrothed. The Max Slim Tee fulfills all your wildest, white tee dreams. I really love the cut of it, as I’m not the hugest fan of a form-fitting white tee. I think a slightly loose fit looks so chic!
Other options include…
The white tank
For those sweltering summer days.
LA Relaxed is a sustainable, stylish brand that I can’t waitttt to buy from. Their prices don’t actually break the bank, which is always a plus. The Organic Cotton Rib Tank looks sooo soft and comfortable. I love the cut of it, too.
Other options include…
a good pair of jeans.
Whatever that SILHOUETTE may be for you!
For me, that is the Diesel Bootcut Jean 1969. I have 2 pairs now and I absolutely love how they fit me.
I could do an entire post on denim alone (and maybe I will, tbh) but for now, I will list some sustainable brands with good choices for you to look at.
*Prices are much steeper here. The cost of a good pair of jeans that will last you years has soared, I know. But at least you’ll have them for forever.
The little black dress
Make everyone say omg when ur in ur lbd
At this point, this entire blog is just a Reformation fan page. I won’t apologize, though. The Kristine Dress is the perfect combination of sexy and classy. It’s Slassy. And who doesn’t love slassy. Here’s a rundown of some other choices:
Swimsuits
you’ll be sexy, even in a snorkeling mask.
I looove Kulani Kinis. They are very sustainable and so freaking cute. They carry different cuts and styles for bottoms, which I really appreciate, because gone are the days where I have any desire to wear a thong to the beach. I think my confidence was fostered out of pure blindness, when I was 16. Annnyway. Here are some brands for you:
Reformation (Yes, again.)
*Yes, I know prices are steep here as well. Believe me, I am upset with the swimsuit price epidemic too.
So like, yeah.
Investing in solid basics isn’t just a smart style move — it’s a sustainable one. When you shop with intention, your closet (and the planet) thanks you. Now go forth and slay, #sustainably.
